Tech Tips from Racers for Racers
Tire Pressure Setup
Big Thanks to The Worm for this tip.
This is one of those questions that can't be answered by anyone but you yourself. Ideal tire pressures change due to a number of variables like track condition. If the track is bumpy you want less pressure, if it's smooth a little more. If the track is grippy you want more pressure, if it's slippery you want less. The temperature outside also plays a factor. If it's cooler outside you want more pressure and if it's hotter, a tiny bit less. The best way to find your pressure is to experiment, get a good mechanical tire gauge, not a stick one. Play with your pressures try out different pressures and find what works best for you. I say all this because if you really want to race this is one thing you need to learn on your own, because everyone has different styles of riding requiring different setups. If you give a man a fish he eats for a day if you teach him to fish he eats for a lifetime.
